If your little ones love getting close to animals, then they’ll love meeting our resident chickens and friendly ferrets. This complimentary activity for hotel guests runs every day and begins with the chance to learn more about the animals’ life at Bovey Castle, before watching a fun ferret race and collecting the chicken’s eggs straight from the coop.
Then there’s also our falconry displays where our experienced falconer provides an educational commentary on these breath-taking birds of prey as they soar through the sky. Running every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday this complimentary activity is a magical experience for those young and old.
If your family would like to combine meeting our furry friends with learning more about the estate’s history, then why not try a deer park tour? Guided by one of Bovey’s deer keepers, this activity is priced at £30 per person and will see you spend an hour with these magnificent animals. Learn all about their lifecycle, nutrition and how deers fit into the conversation model on the Bovey estate.
For a more majestic tour, discover our carriage rides to the village of North Bovey. Step back in time at Bovey Castle and enjoy a picturesque ride on our shire horse and covered carriages, taking in the stunning Dartmoor scenery and local history.

If you’re a family who has a competitive side, then we’ve got a whole host of on-site sporting activities you can get stuck into.
Our complimentary activities include the traditional garden game of Croquet and the use of our Tennis courts.
One of our most popular activities here at Bovey Castle is our archery range, where eager archers can find their inner Robin Hood testing their aim shooting different targets. Lasting for approximately one hour, this activity is priced at £35 per person.
