Whether you’re staying with us here at Bovey Castle or are simply visiting for the day, and whether an accomplished player or relatively new to the game, you will be in for a warm welcome from our professional staff. Dan joined Bovey Castle in May 2010 after spending three years working at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club. Upon joining, Dan enrolled on the PGA Foundation Degree Programme in 2011 and whilst on the PGA Training Programme, passed modules in Equipment Technology, Golf Coaching, Sports Science and Business Studies.
After working closely with Richard Lewis for a number of years, Dan took over as Golf Manager in January 2019. Dan oversees all aspects of Golf at Bovey Castle, as well as all Membership’s on offer.
To enhance his knowledge Dan enrolled on the PGA Director of Golf Qualification, a new course run by the PGA for those that are looking to manage Golf Facilities. This qualification covers all aspects of Golf Facility Management. Dan has currently achieved the PGA Certificate of Golf Management Theory and is working towards attaining the full qualification.
Dan continues to attend Continued Professional Development courses run by the PGA whenever possible.
Dan continues to teach Members and Visitors of all ages and experiences.
Karl Knight – PGA Teaching Professional
Karl brings a wealth of golf knowledge and coaching experience to Bovey Castle having worked in the industry for over 20 years.
He has recently returned to the UK after two years as PGA Professional and Director of the Cabot Links Golf Academy in Canada.
Karl started his golfing education at Trevose as a junior golfer and has since worked in Australia, Spain, Portugal and Canada at various golf facilities.
His last role here in the UK was at the Wildernesse Club in Kent where he was Assistant Professional/Head Assistant for four years

Karl is passionate about the development of golfers of all ages and abilities.
He is available for teaching throughout 2020 and would love to hear from you so please contact the golf shop or ask him in person about his various coaching packages.
Danny Guy – PGA Assistant Professional
Danny enrolled on the PGA training programme after a very successful spell as a County Junior golfer. Danny has won twice in Devon PGA events in his short run as a training professional. Since enrolling on the PGA training programme playing has taken a back step for Danny.
Now on the verge of finishing his training Danny will be looking to play more golf across the West Region. Danny has a passion for Coaching and Club Repairs and is available to help in any way with advice for all golfers.
Sarah Arnold – Golf coordinator:
Sarah joined Bovey Castle in February 2016 having relocated to Devon from Oxfordshire. Throughout her career, Sarah has organised sports travel and hospitality events including corporate golf days and golf travel programmes. A keen golfer herself with a handicap of 6, Sarah will ensure that every aspect of your golf day or stay here at Bovey Castle is arranged with the utmost attention to detail, allowing you to relax and enjoy the occasion.
