Taking place on Friday 5th June 2026 from 9.30am, The Wild Larder offers an immersive journey through Bovey Castle’s 275-acre Dartmoor estate, celebrating the landscape, biodiversity and seasonal ingredients found right on our doorstep.
Known for his popular social media channel Eat The Country, Thomas has inspired hundreds of thousands of followers through his passion for wild food, sustainable living and countryside traditions. During this exclusive experience, guests will join him on a guided foraging walk across the estate, discovering the hidden edible treasures woven throughout Dartmoor’s ancient woodland, meadows and hedgerows.
The morning begins with coffee and thoughtfully prepared foraged bites on arrival, before guests set off to explore the grounds alongside Thomas. Along the way, he will share expert insight into the ingredients, plants and seasonal flavours that thrive naturally within the landscape.
Following the walk, guests will gather in Bovey Castle’s wildflower meadow for an English sparkling wine reception accompanied by seasonal canapés, before taking part in a tree planting activity that reflects the estate’s ongoing connection to the natural environment.
The experience concludes in The Bovey Room at 1.15pm, where Executive Head Chef Mark Budd will serve a carefully curated three-course lunch inspired by the flavours, ingredients and discoveries of the morning. Guests will also enjoy a glass of English wine alongside lunch.
Dean Gunston, General Manager at Bovey Castle, said:
“The Wild Larder is a wonderful opportunity for guests to connect with Dartmoor in a truly memorable way and perhaps even broaden their taste palates for when they’re cooking at home.
There are an array of edible ingredients right on our doorstep that people may not be aware of, which is why we are delighted to welcome Thomas Radford to guide guests through the estate and share his knowledge of the landscape and biodiversity found here.
Our property is surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty, and this experience brings together everything that makes the estate so special, from ancient woodland and wildflower meadows to seasonal produce and exceptional food.”
Pre-booking is essential, and guests are advised to wear suitable outdoor footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
