Captain’s Message
“I am sure we were all gripped by “Open” fever over the last weekend and what an exciting finish there was! But nothing compared to our Dartmoor League Team, who against all odds stopped the unbeaten run from a very strong Okehampton team, with a 4-1 home victory. This is on the back of a very tight win against Fingle Glen by 3.5 – 1.5 the previous weekend. My thanks go to Dan McClure and his team for flying the BC flag and moving us up to 2nd place in the 1st Division – can we go on to win it?! The club competitions are well under way and we have the Club Championships in a couple of weeks, please support all our member competitions wherever possible. The Seniors team continue their fine league season with a trip to Stover on July 29th, can they stay top?! Note for your diaries, Captains day will be held on the 9th October, all members welcome.”

“Congratulations to Captain Dan McClure and the Dartmoor League team on back-to-back victories to ignite their season. The first victory, over Fingle Glen seemed to give the confidence needed to record an even more impressive win against previously undefeated Okehampton 4-1 at Bovey Castle on July 17th. Given the selection issues Dan had it speaks volumes of the quality in depth available which is great to see. Well played everyone!
With the extreme weather we have had recently the course is playing very differently, but I must applaud Sean and his team for keeping the course in excellent condition in such difficult circumstances.”
Course Update and Upcoming Work
‘We would like to announce that Sean will have another team member, Matt, starting in early August to raise the numbers on the greenkeeping team. We are delighted that Matt has agreed to join us, and I’m sure you will welcome him when you see him on the course. The riverbanks will be tackled in the coming weeks and we thank you for your understanding of why they have been left like they have. Moving forward, with the numbers we have in the team this will allow us the time to get to grips with this in the future’.

Activities
We are excited to announce we are offering a new activity of the Bovey Bee keeping! Onsite we have our own hives, where you will get the chance to get suited up and David and Georgina will show you the bees and talk about their life cycle and even try some of the Bovey Honey. This activity will take place on Thursdays at 10:30am for ages 16 upwards (please note your own boots are required). Call activities to book 01647 445022 or on the website.
